Being a Friend of Medium allows you to support writers you read up to four times more than a regular membership.

However, your support will eventually go down based on your activity level. Even before the earnings crashed, I was probably giving out a penny or two because I was really active.

I honestly don't know how the earnings are working now since everything has been upside down since January 7th.

I used to be a regular member and then I upgraded to Friend of Medium when it first became available in November 2023. All of the members upgrading to FOM put a lot more money in the pool for writers compared to how it used to be around here.

I'm hoping things get fixed soon because most writers feel like their membership dues are not going to writers at the moment.
