I forgot about the tech writers. You are right, I remember them being upset about the changes. Maybe they were getting a lot of reads because reading time was one of the main factors for earnings instead of engagement back then.

I'm not an expert by any means, but the way to make money now seems to be by reading/supporting and building relationships with others. It takes a lot of time to do that, and most people won't earn much at all if they only publish.

I would say most writers can earn a few hundred dollars and maybe up to $1,000 a month, but that is really rare. The days of the "superstar" writers making $5K to $10K a month seem to be over.

Boosting can also make a difference, but I don't have any experience with that.
