Maybe they changed it where now we earn nothing if someone is too active. For example, I used to give out a penny or two by reading and leaving a comment despite being a Friend of Medium because I was really active.

When things work normally, a new account gives out a lot more money and it slowly goes down over time with activity but it still provides at least a penny. I don’t really know, I’m just guessing.
