That's been my experience too....I'll keep earning from older articles, but it is usually a few cents. Only one keeps earning a few dollars each day and that is my publications guidelines page because it's almost non-stop AI writers asking to join.

I know some writers get a ton of reads each month and I have no idea how they do it. Anytime I ask questions, they never really answer or they write about it in a vague way that doesn't make any sense.
